Well, hello there. Yesterday the Forbidden City where the Emperor lives, today the Great Wall of China, where millions of Chinese live contained within its walls. The Great Wall, also known as the Wall of 10 000 li was built upon much sweat and blood...its contruction itself a marvel of human ingenuinity and perseverence. That day, I had the chance to scale its heights.
As the people of yore said: Should you climb it, you are a hero, should you are unable to climb it, you are a bear.
But the late Chairman Mao has this to say: Only a hero scales up the top of this walls.
To give you an idea of how steep this is, my camera is level as water is level in the cup.....tilted a little of course to capture the full splendour of the top.
The Wall at a distance. Several hundred miles of it is in good condition, but here, the view of it all is the best.
A close up of the scenery. Notice the steep climb? Imagine you're a soldier stationed here...how to climb those steps in winter and with barbarians charging at you?
Finally, made it to the top. Notice the white board notice with red letterings...I have no idea what it says.
Another shot of my triumphant climb. The backdrop is of the 8th level fire beacon tower, which has since been sealed off.
This is taken from the lower level. The peak to the left is the 8th level.
Sunset over the mountains of Badaling. It's only 5pm, and in 17 minutes, it's already dark.
All in all, the Great Wall climb is the best experiance of the entire Beijing trip.
Hot blooded ranting!
I don't like this, I don't like that. So she don't like this or that and that again, but he don't care what is there to like or not like or hate or something like that, so for all I care, I don't really care unless I do care, in which case I will care, so there.
